2024, inspirations and resolutions

As we enter February, I'm rushing to complete this post, embracing the idea that a new year brings new inspiration.

Looking back on the past few months, I've discovered a love for visiting museums—it fuels my creativity and brings me joy.

Following my heart, I entered 2024 with a clear resolution (PS: I am not a resolution kind of person) to visit one museum every month.

The journey began in December at the Fashioned by Sargent exhibit in MFT, Boston, which was recommended by Sarah, the same client who inspired my recent blog post on styling shifts.

On January 12, I fulfilled a long-standing desire by visiting INHOTIM in Minas Gerais, Brazil—a remarkable outdoor art center housing one of Brazil's largest contemporary art collections.

The Inhotim Institute is home to one of Brazil's largest foundations of contemporary art and one of Latin America's largest outdoor art centers. It was founded by the former mining magnate Bernardo Paz in 2004 to house his personal art collection but opened to the public a couple of years later.

In the quiet of a museum’s desert garden, my father stumbled upon a cactus that was a piece of his childhood in the sertão, where many mornings were spent harvesting its pieces for livestock feed.

Capturing its image, he shared it with his brother, who responded with a touch of nostalgia, ‘This plant, I’ll never forget. Even today, I carry the scars,’ a poignant acknowledgment of the enduring marks left by their shared past.

Two days were needed to explore the vast 140-hectare landscape of Inhotim.

As the day concluded, I pondered the time I'd spent conforming to others' expectations instead of listening to my desires.

Life is short—follow your passion!

Wishing you a joyful 2024!
