Museum of the month: RISD
I have to say, this summer is flying by! With a quick vacation and a busy schedule, the Museum of the Month for July is coming a little late, but we made it! For July and August (I might do another one in August too if I can!), I chose the RISD Art Museum in Rhode Island. My husband Brendon and I spent a great day there. We visited on a Thursday when they have extended hours, so we had plenty of time to explore and take in all the exhibits!

The museum was great, with an impressive art collection that had different styles and periods. What really stood out was the entire floor dedicated to showcasing student work. It was inspiring to see such fresh, creative talent on display. We were genuinely impressed by the variety—there was just so much to explore and appreciate!

Fun fact about our visit: we came across the original famous portrait of George Washington, painted by Gilbert Stuart. My instant reaction was to pull out my $1 bill! It was cool to see such an iconic photo of the first U.S. President up close.

They also had works by Monet and other renowned artists. I had no idea that the RISD had such famous pieces from the art world. It was incredible to see pieces by iconic artists right here in Rhode Island, it made the visit even more special. I’m so glad I chose this museum to visit!

We spent some time exploring the student gallery, and it was truly inspiring to see the talent and creativity on display. After, we took a break and grabbed a quick meal at the museum's cafeteria. The food was great!

Sometimes we just need to take a look around. There are amazing things to do and places to visit right next door, yet we find ourselves traveling far for fun. It reminds me of that saying: the neighbors grass is always greener.
What's a hidden gem in your area? Put it in the comments, I’d love to hear about it!
