Dressing for the Holidays: A Personal Stylist’s Guide

Hello! The holidays are just around the corner, and I think now is the perfect time to prepare. I’m writing this post to help you feel ready and inspired for the season.

December is a special month for me. I love gathering with my family to celebrate the holidays, share special moments, and create beautiful memories. It’s also my birthday month, which gives me a chance to reflect on the past year and plan for what’s ahead. While we can’t control everything that happens to us, we can choose how we show up and take steps toward what we want.

Now, let’s chat about holiday dressing!

If you have something sparkly or shiny tucked away in your closet, now’s the time to bring it out. We often save these pieces for special occasions and then forget to wear them when those moments arrive. So, here’s your friendly reminder: wear them!

I know styling these pieces can feel tricky, so here’s a quick guide to help you pair your statement pieces with ease:

1. Keep Textures Balanced

Avoid mixing too many different textures in one outfit. For example, if you wear leather pants and sparkly shoes, steer clear of velvet, sequins, or heavily embellished tops. Less is more when you’re working with standout materials.

2. Create Harmony with Patterns and Details

Repeating similar shapes or patterns can make your outfit look polished. For instance, if your jacket has round buttons, wearing round earrings can tie everything together beautifully.

3. Play with Festive Colors

If wearing green and red together feels intimidating, choose one as the base of your outfit and add just a touch of the other. For example, pair a dark green skirt with a matching sweater, then add red heels or earrings for a subtle festive pop.

Alternatively, you can stick with neutrals like navy and white. To keep it simple yet festive, add holiday flair with red flats and green jewelry.

4. Shop Your Closet First

Before you head out to buy a new outfit, take a look at what you already own. Remember that dress you saved for “the perfect occasion”? Well, that time has arrived! Dressing up doesn’t mean buying something new—it’s about feeling amazing in what you already have.

More than anything, remember to dress in a way that feels good for you. Whether you prefer cozy and comfortable outfits or bold statement looks, wear what makes you happy and confident.

So, tell me—are you a comfy dresser for the holidays, or do you love making a statement?

To show my appreciation for all of you who have supported my business this year, I’ve put together a special holiday shopping guide!
